Zara Mia Parmar, 22, Womenswear and Menswear Graduate Designer.
How long have you been involved with LFS?
This is my first year with LFS.
What opportunity has LFS brought to you?
LFS has brought me an opportunity to showcase The In Pieces Womenswear & Menswear Autumn/Winter 2014 Collection.
What made you want to join the event?
It is a good time to showcase my collection at LFS after recently graduating. LFS is a good platform for me to introduce the Zara Mia brand of Womenswear and Menswear collections to a wider audience.
How long have you been designing?
I have been designing fashion for about 6 years whilst studying at Leeds College of Art. During this time I completed a BTEC Art and Design course; I went onto a National Diploma in Fashion and then finished with a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design, where I graduated with a first class honors.
Describe your collection in 140 characters.
The In Pieces Womenswear & Menswear A/W 2014 Collection is based on maritime. It is a multipurpose and functional concept, using waterproof fabrics and giving wearable options. The inspiration is taken from sailing ships and historical French architecture, which define the collection. The 18th century pattern cutting influenced the elimination of the side seams to show a new dimension to the garments. For detailing, traditional hand-sewn tailoring elements were used.
