Fashion Fringe SS13

The Fashion Fringe shows are always amazing, the show is only about the designers and their collection- a no nonsense down to business fashion show, which is something I look forward to in our media saturated industry. Back to basics but totally not basic design.

The three designers showcasing for SS13 were Teija Eilola, who's collection was extremely commercial and beautiful, Vita Gottlieb, who's pieces were heavily influenced from her background of the film industry and finally the distinguished Haizhen Wang who for me really stood out- his craftsmanship was so prominent in this show.

Wangs pieces were very structural in their design yet they had a unique and wearable sense. The monochromatic colour choice with a shot of cobalt blue was very fresh for SS13. You could see, under all the construction, basic silhouettes aided with styling tricks of adding beautiful 'belts' to give that ever lusted hourglass shape. His jackets looked beautiful in craft and contemporary in design but still really commercial. I love the small details in garments: at Wangs show one of my favourite pieces was a gorgeous slouchy blouse with a fab collar that looked almost like unfinished folded fabrics- these small details with his innovative garments all made for a very stylish and professional collection.
