Michael Van Der Ham SS13

From classicism and inspiration from the white shirt, Van Der Ham's collection was a real extreme of designs. His obsession with varied fabrics, colours and shapes could, for other designers, not work but somehow Van Der Ham seems to pull it off most seasons.

This collection was one evident of this.

Van Der ham is a favoured designer to myself anyway, as one of my loves is collage and Van Der Ham is a designer that explores and celebrates this on a grand scale. The precision and craftsmanship behind this SS13 collection can no doubt be seen in every garment. The silhouettes that are created naturally with the placing of fabrics are really interesting and exciting, although you can see some trend shapes coming through, the peplum for instance can be seen in many garments whether this was a choice or whether it happened naturally one will not know, but it looks fab. The choice of colours seems very subtle for SS13, an almost subdued and muted colour range, which helps to add a calmness to the extreme use of fabrics and the shapes of the garments. This was also another collection which embraced, naturally, miss matching prints, which I believe could be a strong trend for SS13.
